#throwbackthursday #tbt November 1983: Johan Kriek (@johankriek) wins the South African Open at Ellis Park in Johannesburg. At that time, the South African Open was the fifth oldest tournament in the world after the four Grand Slams. It was a win, Johan considers one of his proudest moments in his tennis career as he was able to have his South African family witness it live. Johan’s dad suffered an accident that left him paralyzed for life when Johan was just 8 years old. Because of that, Johan’s parents were never able to travel oversees to see their son compete at the biggest tennis stages in the world.
