#throwbackthursday Johan Kriek has a great history with the US Open. Johan qualified for the main draw in 1978 and right away reached the quarterfinal where he lost to Vitas Gerulaitis. Two years later, in 1980, Johan reached the semi-final where he was 2 sets to 0 against Björn Borg who ended up winning the match in 5 sets. “US Open will always be the Slam that started my career,” remembers Johan.
