Great start by our academy girls in the doubles competition at the NC State L1 Tar Heel Qualifier in Winston Salem, NC today. Jenna Thompson and Serena Evans beat the number 1 seeded team 8/2 on their way to the girls’ 12 doubles semi-final. Halle Futch and her doubles partner also reached the girls’ 12 semi-final after eliminating another doubles team from our academy, AP Shumate and Sydney Landau, in the quarterfinal. Finally, our youngest out of a total of twelve academy players participating in this NC L1 event, Kaitlyn Tozzi, and her doubles partner is also through to the semi-final in the girls’ 10 category. Johan Kriek was there to watch most of the doubles matches. On the picture you can see Johan with six out of twelve of our academy players playing in Winston Salem this weekend: Halle Futch, Sydney Landau, AP Shumate, Serena Evans, Jenna Thompson and Fleming Landau.
The doubles event will continue tomorrow. The singles competition will start tomorrow as well. Johan Kriek as well as our academy coaches, Evgeny and Nino, will be there to support all twelve of our academy players. Good luck!!
