Great showing by our academy players this weekend

Congratulations to our players who played at the CTA Charlotte Junior Classic this weekend. Let’s start with the champions: Jenna Thompson – girls’ 12 singles red draw champion and Anna Shumate- girls’ 12 singles white draw champions. Anna beat our own Serena Evans in the girls’ 12 final. Great job girls! We had two other finalists besides Serena: Kavir Kumar (boys’ 16) who had to retire in the third set tie-breaker (Kavir won the first set 6/0) after collapsing due to dehydration and Kaitlyn Tozzi (girls’ 10) who beat the number 2 seeded player losing only 2 games in the semi-final. Finally, Halle Futch (girls’ 12) and Austin Schepel (boys’ 14) won their consolation draws.
