Accolades

Johan and Daga,

Thank you so much for everything that you both have done with Rohan over the past year, helping him not only become a better Tennis player but also a better kid. We are thankful for making him disciplined, dedicated and determined to do better in life.

Last couple of days have been hard and that explains the delay in my response. We do realize that Rohan will be without a mentor and it will be a void that we will not be able to fill but we also understand and respect the decision that you have taken from a family and long term perspective.

We wish you all the very best and I will also take this opportunity to mention that it was our pleasure to get to know one of the best, down to earth, accomplished family that we have ever met.

Have a good day.

Take Care

“… i almost cried after ruby’s lesson with johan last week b/c ruby turned to me and said, “i forgot how much i loved tennis. it was to the point i was actually hating it (stretch of bad coaching, high school tennis drama; nobody believing in ruby anymore it seemed to her…).”

“johan,” she said, “just changed everything. this has been the greatest lesson ever! thank you thank you thank you!”

you krieks seem to speak hutchison language. and, that, my friend, is pure goodness;)

Dear Daga and Johan, I am sorry to see you go. You both were like a miracle
that dropped in our lap for Lauren and her tennis. I know she thinks the
world of you both. The College she is attending (Catawba) is only about 30
minutes from Charlotte, so hopefully she can stay in touch and even help
you at your camps or academy. Thanks again for all you have done I wish you
well.

It was a great experience for me to train with Johan and Daga. Within a year they improved my game to the next level. Not only did Johan and Daga improve my techniques on my serve, slice, backhand, and volleys, but they also helped improve the speed in my shots and movement. They greatly contributed to the mental aspect of my tennis game, allowing me to persevere through tough situations with a newly found confidence that I would never have been able to achieve without them. Despite the high level of intensity on the physical, mental, and technical portions of the tennis game, both Johan and Daga were also life coaches, giving me the critical analysis as well as the motivation at the right moments to allow me to grow as a person. I will never forget their funny, yet memorable analogies which allowed some comic relief to accompany the trying practices. I will miss you and you’ll always be my coaches, whether you like it or not.

Ceyda Durmaz (Player – Virginia) – March 2012

On behalf of our family, we wanted to express our thanks and gratitude to the Johan Kriek Tennis Academy. Zach has been so fortunate to have trained with them for a couple of years.

Their approach to training (with emphasis on skill/technique, strategy, fitness, and proper nutrition) has delivered great results. Johan sets goals for his students that require hard work and training to achieve. (a few tears mixed in with a multitude of grins!!) On the tennis side, we’ve seen a tremendous jump in player level. However, on a personal level, Zach has also developed the outstanding self-confidence which comes from being “great” at something and continuously attaining tough goals over time. In Johan, Zach really has found a mentor — that special blend between coach and friend that is very hard to come by. For all of these reasons and more, Johan and Daga are sorely missed by our family. Congratulations, Charlotte, you’re gaining a great tennis academy. We will visit as often as we can. Best wishes and good luck in North Carolina!
